Getting Started

What is Runn?

Runn is a running app for people who run together. Track your runs, join events, see nearby runners live, and connect with your local running community — all in one place.

Is Runn free?

Yes. Core features — GPS tracking, run history, leaderboards, clubs, and events — are free. Runn Pro unlocks AI coaching, Pulse, Group Runns, Race Predictions, and unlimited run history.

Is Runn available on Android?

Yes — Runn is live on the Google Play Store.

Recording Activities

What activities can I track?

Run, Walk, Trail Run, Hike, and Ride (cycling). Select your activity type before you start.

How does GPS tracking work?

Runn uses your phone's GPS to record your route, distance, pace, and elevation in real time. For best accuracy, start outdoors with a clear sky view and give the app a moment to lock on before you begin.

Does Runn track heart rate?

Yes. Runn records GPS distance, pace, and elevation itself — heart rate is the only stat pulled from an external source since the phone has no HR sensor.

Apple Watch (iOS)

Start a workout on your watch before you record and Runn shows your live BPM on the recording screen. Average heart rate is saved from HealthKit when you finish.

Other watches on iPhone (Amazfit/Zepp, Garmin, Samsung Health, etc.)

Runn reads HR from Apple HealthKit — any watch whose companion app syncs HR data to HealthKit will work. Average heart rate is saved post-run. Live BPM during recording is Apple Watch only.

Huawei on iPhone

Huawei Health's HealthKit integration is limited and inconsistent — HR may or may not be picked up.

Android watches

Runn reads from Google Health Connect. Any watch that syncs to Health Connect (Pixel Watch, Samsung, Garmin, Fitbit, Amazfit/Zepp, etc.) gives you average HR after the run. Live BPM during recording is Apple-Watch-only for now.

Runn also estimates training zones (Easy, Aerobic, Tempo, Threshold, Max) from pace, so zone breakdowns work even without a watch.

More detail: how Runn works with watches →

Can I run without an internet connection?

Yes — GPS recording works offline. Your run syncs when you reconnect.

Can I add photos to a run?

Yes, up to 5 photos per run. Add them on the finish screen or from the run detail page after the fact.

Can I edit a run after saving?

Yes. Open the run, tap the edit button, and update the title, notes, or gear.

Does Runn sync with Apple Health?

Partially — Runn reads heart rate data from Apple Health (HealthKit) after your run and saves it to your activity. It does not write runs back to Apple Health.

Does Runn sync with Strava?

Not at this time.

Can I import a run from my Garmin or another device?

Not yet. Runn doesn't currently support importing workouts from other devices or apps (no GPX, .FIT, or HealthKit workout import). Runs need to be recorded live in the Runn app — file import and a direct Garmin sync are both on the roadmap.

Social & Community

How do followers work?

What are Clubs?

Clubs are groups you create or join around a shared interest — a local crew, a race team, a barkada who runs. Clubs have their own feed, leaderboard, and chat. You can share runs to multiple clubs at once.

Can I message other runners?

Yes. Tap any runner's profile and send them a direct message.

Can I comment on runs?

You can like runs. Run comments are not available yet.

How do I report or block someone?

🏅

Events

What kinds of events does Runn have?

📍 Onsite

A group run on a set date and location. Show up, run, and tag the event in Runn. Your result appears on the leaderboard automatically.

📱 Virtual

Run on your own time, on your own route, before the event's end date. Record in Runn and tag the event when you finish.

Hybrid

Both. The event has an onsite date for runners who show up, plus a virtual window for everyone else. When you join, pick which mode you're running — leaderboards are tracked per mode.

How do I join an event?

Go to Community → Events, find the event, choose your distance, and tap Join Event. For hybrid events, also choose Onsite or Virtual.

How does my result get submitted?

When you finish a run and tag the event, Runn checks that your distance meets the requirement and the run falls within the event window. If it does, your result is automatically verified and added to the leaderboard — no manual submission needed.

Can I leave an event after joining?

Yes, from the event page before you've completed it.

XP, Tiers & Seasons

How do I earn XP?
+10 XPfor every kilometre you log
+25%distance XP bonus when you're on a 3+ day run streak
+100 XPeach time a run sets a new PR (1K, 1 mile, 5K, 10K, half, or full marathon)
+15 XPthe first time you attach a photo to a run
What are tiers?

Tiers are progression ranks earned by accumulating XP within a season. Your tier badge is visible on your profile and runs.

What is a season?

Seasons are four months long: Jan–Apr, May–Aug, and Sep–Dec (Philippine time). At the end of a season, XP resets to zero and everyone starts fresh. Your final tier is saved as a badge on your profile.

What are Race Predictions?Pro

Predictions estimate your finish times for 1K, 1 mile, 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon based on your actual running data from the past 12 weeks. The more consistently you run, the more accurate they get. You can also set a goal time for each distance.

What are Personal Records (PRs)?

Runn automatically detects when a run sets a new best time for a standard distance (1K, 1 mile, 5K, 10K, half, or full marathon) and marks it on the run. PRs are tracked across your full history.

🔒

Privacy & Account

Who can see my runs?

You control visibility per run: Public, Followers only, or Private. You can also set a default in settings.

Can I hide my map route?

Yes. In Settings → Map Privacy, you can enable a privacy zone that hides the start and end of your route near your home address.

How do I delete my account?
  1. 1Open Runn and go to your Profile tab.
  2. 2Tap the settings icon in the top-right corner.
  3. 3Scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete account".
